Key Verse: Exodus 36:6-7"So the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient to do all the work, and more."
God had asked for willing hearts. The people responded overwhelmingly.
The work on the Tabernacle begins, and the craftsmen—led by Bezalel and Oholiab—get to work. But something incredible happens:
An Overflow of Generosity
As the people bring their offerings of gold, silver, bronze, fine linen, and precious stones, Moses realizes something:
There is too much.
The people are giving so freely that there is more than enough to complete the Tabernacle.
"The people bring much more than enough for doing the work that the Lord has commanded us to do." (Exodus 36:5)
Moses actually has to tell them to stop giving.
This is a powerful moment. When God’s people are stirred by His Spirit, generosity overflows. They aren’t giving out of duty—they are giving out of love and gratitude.
The Tabernacle Begins to Take Shape
With the abundance of materials, the craftsmen begin assembling the dwelling place of God.
The curtains are woven—fine linen in blue, purple, and scarlet.
The boards and frames are set up—strong acacia wood overlaid with gold.
The veil is made—separating the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.
Every part of the Tabernacle is precisely made, exactly as God commanded.
This is not just a tent. This is a physical representation of God’s presence among His people.
Jesus: The True Dwelling of God
The Tabernacle was built with abundant gifts—Jesus gave His life abundantly for us.
The veil separated man from God—Jesus tore the veil forever. (Matthew 27:51)
The people’s offerings created a dwelling place—Now, we are the dwelling place of God. (1 Corinthians 3:16)
A Lesson for Us
When God moves in our hearts, generosity flows. Do we give joyfully, trusting God to provide?
God’s work is done with excellence and obedience. Are we faithful with what He has given us?
We are now His dwelling place. Are we living as people filled with His presence?
Israel gave until there was more than enough. Jesus gave everything.
Are we giving our hearts fully to Him?
