Key Verse: Exodus 3:12"He said, ‘But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.’"
Moses’ life had settled into an ordinary rhythm. After fleeing Egypt, he became a shepherd in Midian, far removed from his people’s suffering. But God had not forgotten him—or His plan for Israel’s deliverance.
One day, everything changed. In the middle of the wilderness, Moses saw a bush on fire—but it wasn’t burning up. As he turned to look closer, God called his name: “Moses, Moses!”
God often speaks in the ordinary moments of life. Moses was simply tending sheep when he encountered the presence of God. Sometimes, we expect a dramatic sign when we seek God’s direction, but often, He speaks in unexpected places when our hearts are open to listen.
God tells Moses His plan: Go back to Egypt. Confront Pharaoh. Lead My people out of slavery. But instead of excitement, Moses is filled with doubt.
“Who am I that I should go?”Moses feels inadequate. He sees his own weakness, his past mistakes, and his shortcomings. But God’s answer isn’t about Moses’ ability—it’s about His presence. “I will be with you.”
This is the key to every calling. It’s not about how qualified we are. It’s about the God who goes with us. When He calls us, He equips us. When we feel unworthy, He reminds us that He is enough.
Moses continues to question—“What if they don’t believe me? What should I say?”—but God patiently reassures him. “I AM WHO I AM.” This name reveals God’s eternal nature. He is self-existent, all-powerful, and unchanging. He was with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and He will be with Moses.
Like Moses, we often resist God’s calling because we focus on our weaknesses instead of His strength. But God is not limited by our fears. He calls us not because we are able, but because He is.
What has God called you to do? Are you resisting, like Moses, because you feel inadequate? Remember His promise: “I will be with you.” That is all you need.
